Famous American footballer, OJ Simpson, has died at the age of 76 years.
His family confirmed that he lost the battle to cancer on April 10.
“On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer.
“He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
“During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace”, a family statement widely quoted on Thursday.
Frimehnews recalls that the celebrity footballer had been accused of the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman in 1995.
However, he was eventually acquitted and found not wanting in the deaths of the two women.
A successful athlete in his NFL career, OJ Simpson won many laurels, including being a five-time Pro Bowl selection and winning the NFL MVP award in 1973.
