The body of former Nigerian President, the late Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), will be buried in his Daura home town in Katsina State on Tuesday, July 15.
The state governor, Dikko Umar Radda, disclosed this in Katsina on Monday morning.
Buhari had died at a London hospital in the United Kingdom on July 13 after protracted illness.
He was 82 years old.
Earlier on Sunday, President Bola Tinubu had directed Vice-President Kashim Shettima to fly to London and be part of the preparations to bring the body of his predecessor back to Nigeria.
Shettima left Nigeria in company with the Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, and a couple of other senior Federal Government officials.
Governor Radda, while giving an update on the burial plans, said the corpse would be received in Katsina on Tuesday for burial by 2pm.
Buhari had twice served as Nigeria’s Number 1 citizen both as a military leader and a civilian president, leaving office for the final time in May 2023.
He was military Head of State from 31 December 1983 to 27 August 1985 and a civilian president from May 29, 2015 to May 29, 2023.
